The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has approved murder charges against six police officers. They include Central Police Station OCS Samson Talaam and Constable James Mukhwana.
The charges relate to the death of Albert Ojwang. He died while in police custody.
DPP Renson Ingonga confirmed the decision on Monday. He said it followed investigations by the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA). IPOA submitted the case files, prompting the DPP to act.
The six officers are now in court. They are expected to face murder charges.
Those charged alongside Talaam include Peter Kimani and four others. More details about their involvement are expected during the trial.
