RISING FROM THE ASHES – SOWETO’S BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER DEVASTATING FIRE

63 families have been left homeless after a fire swept through their neighbourhood in Soweto, Embakasi East.

In yet another bizarre incident, in the wee hours of Wednesday, 07 February 2024,  In Soweto, Embakasi East Constituency, a devastating fire swept through the neighborhood, leaving more than 63 families homeless. The blaze which began at around 2 am, engulfed houses and displaced numerous families forcing them to evacuate.

Embakasi East Member of Parliament, Babu Owino, is calling for national unity and prayers for the affected residents and families.

In a tweet, Owino expressed his concerns, stating, “Another sad day in Soweto ward, Embakasi East, as 63 residents are left homeless after a fire burned down their houses and other valuables last night. Please pray for Embakasi East.” 

Owino has been actively advocating for the well-being of the community, particularly after the recent gas explosion that hit the headlines on 01 February 2024. 

Despite facing numerous challenges, the residents of Embakasi East have been resilient courageously working to rebuild their lives amidst the aftermaths of recent disasters.
