A man blocked a car using his motorcycle and robbed the vehicle’s occupants off their valuables including; mobile phones, cash and personal effects in Kawangware. One Mr. Odhiambo had blocked the said car claiming it had knocked down a boda boda rider in a hit and run incident before proceeding to terrorize the vehicle’s occupants in broad daylight.
Mr. Odhiambo had orchestrated the robbery together with several accomplices including Stanley Amos Misiko who was charged with the robbery but upon being released on bail, absconded.
After the robbery, Odhiambo returned to victims to ask for a gift for protecting them from the mob.
He accompanied them to the Muthangari police station as they went to make a report.
He was detained after police enquiries established that there was no hit and run accident reported anywhere in the area as he was claiming
Upon being convicted of three counts of robbery with violence contrary to section 295(1) and (2) of the Penal Code Act, Mr. Odhiambo pleaded with the court for a lenient sentence since he was a family man and the sole breadwinner. He was however handed a death sentence by Senior Principal Magistrate Hon. Philip Mutua sitting at Kibera Law Courts.
