A subdued atmosphere has descended upon Kapweria in Emurua Dikirr constituency, Narok county, following a shocking incident where a 13-year-old girl fatally attacked her mother with a machete during a heated argument over a mobile phone.
According to Transmara East sub-county police boss Boniface Kavoo, the teenage suspect wielded a panga, inflicting severe cuts to her 55-year-old mother’s head. Despite efforts to save her, the mother succumbed to the injuries, succumbing to excessive bleeding.
Kavoo revealed that neighbors responding to the distress cries found the victim in agonizing pain, desperately pleading for assistance. The tragic confrontation arose from the mother’s attempt to reclaim the phone her daughter was using for undisclosed conversations. It appears the deceased was a strict parent, discontent with her daughter’s clandestine communication. The altercation escalated, resulting in a tragic fatality.
“The scenario unfolded as the mother sought to assert control over her daughter’s communication. The deceased, evidently a stern parent, disapproved of her daughter’s secretive interactions. The teen, in a desperate bid for freedom, resorted to using lethal force, culminating in a devastating outcome,” explained the police officer.
Following the assault, the young suspect attempted to conceal the murder weapon by discarding it into a pit latrine. However, she later admitted to the crime, attributing it to her desire for independence.
The deceased’s body has been transferred to Kapkatet Hospital mortuary, while the teenage suspect is currently detained at Emurua Dikirr police station, awaiting further legal proceedings.
