Doctors associated with Kenya Hospital Association Limited have been charged with multiple criminal offences, including conflict of interest, unlawful receipt of benefits, and failure to comply with financial reporting requirements.
According to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Chris Bichange Munga Nyamaratandi and Samson Mbuthia Kinyanjui allegedly received millions of shillings from an insurance agency contracted by the hospital’s governing body.
Nyamaratandi is accused of receiving KSh 4.8 million between November 2023 and March 2024 while serving as a director an act prosecutors say created a direct conflict of interest. He also faces an additional charge of unlawfully receiving benefits linked to his position.
Kinyanjui, on the other hand, is accused of receiving nearly KSh 4 million between December 2024 and March 2025 under similar circumstances.
In a separate charge, the two, alongside other officials, are accused of failing to meet statutory financial reporting obligations.
The case now puts the management of one of Kenya’s leading private hospitals under fresh legal scrutiny.
