In October 2021, Facebook’s social media platforms transformed to a holding company that owns a broad spectrum of technology applications and was called Meta.
The Tech Giant Meta has now followed in the footsteps of X, formerly Twitter in monetizing verification through subscription.
Kenyan users of Instagram, Facebook and Threads applications will now be accessing the platforms after paying a subscription service. The blue badge pinned against each of the either social media platforms, will cost KShs. 1,320 per month. The subscription service is for people of 18 years and above but has not yet been made available for business accounts.
Verification enables access to features such as exclusive stickers on Stories and Reels across Facebook and Instagram. It also ensures proactive account protection, from impersonation.
