A pastor in Chakama Ward, Kilifi County has been arraigned at Malindi Law courts for brainwashing his congregation to starve themselves to death so that they may see God in Heaven.
Pastor Paul Makenzie of Good News International Church has also been charged over the aftermaths of his teachings which in turn caused the death of two children whom he later buried in shallow graves.
On the same account, an elderly couple that was also deprived of food was rescued from the same church premises after law enforcers performed a rescue search.
Pastor Makenzi is said to be a well-known man of god who in 2018, operated a gospel ministry in Malindi town, after which he apparently was arrested and charged with various offenses, which saw him close the ministry and transfer it to Chakama Ward.
The rescued couple was taken to Malindi Subcounty hospital where they were resuscitated and are still undergoing treatment.
